How to configure BitLocker encryption on Windows
You can encrypt your hard drive with Windows' built-in BitLocker tool. There are two encryption methods: the first is using a Trusted Platform Module chip on a device and the second is without a TPM using software encryption.

Let's see the steps of encryption without TPM.

1. Type gpedit into the Windows search bar.
2. Click Edit Group Policy in the search result.
3. In the Local Group Policy Editor and under Computer Configuration in the left panel.
4. Click Administrative Templates, and then click Windows Components.
5. Now, click on BitLocker Drive Encryption, and then click on the Operating System Drives folder.
6. On the right panel, double-click the Require additional authentication at startup policy.
7. Click the Enabled radio button and make sure the “Allow BitLocker without compatible TPM” box is checked.
8. Click the Apply button and then click the OK button.
9. Close the Local Group Policy Editor window.
10. Open Control Panel and click System and Security.
11. Click BitLocker Drive Encryption.
12. Click Enable BitLocker.
13. After checking the configuration of the PC, it will start BitLocker.
14. Here you can select how you want to unlock your drive.
15. There are two options available, the first is to use a USB flash drive and the second is to use a password.
16. I click on the Enter password link.
17. Enter and re-enter your password, then click the Next button.
18. Click Save to file option, choose a path to save the recovery key file to your PC.
19. Click the Save button, and then click the Next button.
20. Make sure that the Encrypt only used disk space option is selected, and then click the Next button.
21. Click the Next button again.
22. Check the system check Run BitLocker, if it is not checked.
23. Click the Continue button.
24. You will see a notification that BitLocker will activate after restarting your PC.
25. Let's close the Control Panel window and restart the PC.
26. Immediately after restarting the computer, you will find the BitLocker screen asking you to enter the password to unlock the drive.
27. Type your set BitLocker password and press Enter on your keyboard.
28. You see, we have successfully configured BitLocker on this PC.
