Gordon Ramsay's ULTIMATE COOKERY COURSE: How to Cook the Perfect Steak
Cooking steak on the stovetop is one of my favorite ways to prepare a quick and easy weeknight dinner. It can get smoky in the house but cooking steak on the stovetop is easier than messing with an outdoor grill and produces just as good if not better results. Just make sure to turn on the hood and open a window!
The most important thing you need is a heavy-bottomed skillet made of stainless steel or cast iron so it can withstand the heat.
As you can see I used a cast iron skillet to cook this steak and take the photos for this post but a high-quality stainless steel skillet will work just as well. Other than that all you need is a paper towel to dry the steak and tongs to move it (or whatever utensil you find easiest to use).
