Linguine with Canned Mussels – Cheap Easy Delicious
Many people turn their noses up at canned seafood and prefer to eat only fresh ones. Mussels are no exception.
And while I’m the first to eat a bowl of chowder adorned with meaty mussels in their shells I also make room in my pantry for the canned variety. In short there’s room for both in your repertoire.
The canned mussels you find in the supermarket are either minced or whole baby mussels. Other mussel products you can find include smoked mussels and bottled or canned mussel juice. You can choose from several brands such as Bumble Bee which we photographed for this story or Sea Watch International which I interviewed to learn more about mussels.
