To create a text message group, first open the Messages app. Now tap the new chat icon in the upper right corner. Now, enter the phone numbers or contact names of the people you want to add to your group text. Then go ahead and send the first message to your new text group to get things going. Your text group is now created!
Now that your text group is set up, you can personalize it with a name and image if you wish. Note that everyone else in your text group will also be able to see the name and picture you set, which will change the name and picture of everyone in the group. To add a custom name and image for your iPhone group text, tap the group member icons at the top. Then tap Edit Name & Photo. Tap the empty text box labeled "Enter a group name" and enter the name you want to use. Then you can add an image to represent your chat. This image will appear on the left side of your conversations list in the Messages app, as well as at the top of your chat window when this group conversation is open. To take a new photo using your phone's camera, tap the camera icon. To upload an image from your camera roll, tap the image icon. To create an icon using an emoji, tap the smiley face. To create an icon with initials, tap the pencil icon. You can also select one of the predefined icons below if you wish. If you create your own custom icon with an emoji or text, you can also choose a background color. Once you're happy with your image, tap Done. To save your new group name and icon, tap Done again.
The name and image of your new text group will then be set and everyone in the group will be able to see this update.
