How to Create, Resize, or Extend a Linux (Ubuntu) Page File
A tutorial on how to create, resize or extend a Linux paging file using Ubuntu. This applies to newer versions of Ubuntu where you do not have a Linux swap partition and can extend or resize your Linux Swap by creating a new swap file. We'll walk through the process using Ubuntu 20.04 LTS, but this applies to most Linux distributions. Track and create/resize/expand your swap file via terminal command line today.

The paging file allows unused memory to be transferred to disk from physical memory. This provides more memory resources with fast access times for your system. Pagefiles also help configure hibernate on your Linux system. Pagefiles can be very useful and all they do is take up disk space on your storage device. Page files in Linux are easy to manage, create, extend and resize.
