So I recently made a video showing you how to customize the ringtone when a specific contact calls. This way, you'll instantly know who's calling without even needing to look at the caller ID on the screen. I've noticed that some people want to do this with text messages as well. Today we will start with the Google Messages app.

You will want to view text messages from the contact you want to personalize. I have this text message here from a grocery delivery driver and from here we're going to tap the 3 dot menu icon in the upper right corner here.

Next we need to select the Details option.
Now we are going to tap on the Notifications menu here so that we can access the notification area for this specific phone number.

This page may be familiar to you, especially if you followed my previous tutorial on custom notification sounds.
Let's scroll down a bit until you find the Sounds option

This page may look a little different if you have a Samsung or other OEM phone.
But the process should be almost identical.

After tapping Sounds, you will be taken to your default audio selection tool.
Which, again, may be different if you're using a device from another company.

But from here we can browse the ringtone's audio clips and select one to assign to that contact.
You can even select the My Sounds option and then manually select an audio clip downloaded from the Internet. . .or saved manually by yourself.

Once everything is set up, wait until the next time that person texts you and you'll notice the custom audio clip playing instead of the default notification sound.
