How to cut cauliflower
Serious Mealtimes / Amanda Suarez
Fun fact: Cauliflower broccoli cabbage Brussels sprouts kale and kohlrabi are all the exact same plant: Brassica oleracea. That’s right they’re not just closely related members of the same botanical family or genus they’re literally all the same species each a variety bred for one specific trait. In the case of cauliflower (and broccoli) the plant has been bred to have distinct flower buds which are the flowers we enjoy so much.
Cutting cauliflower into florets is easy especially if you can imagine the branching of the flower heads all growing from one central stem. That stem is often called the "core" when talking about cauliflower.
