When too many #files on your hard drive are in #different #places or #clusters on your #hard #drive, or “fragmented,” your #computer slows down. When you #defrag your #drive, everything is realigned and pieces of files are moved to contiguous locations (next to each other). This makes it easier for your #computer to read #files. Note that you must log in to an #Administrator #account to defragment your hard drive.
