How to delete a document stuck in the printer queue
If you're trying to print a document in Windows and a stuck document is preventing the remaining documents in the queue from printing, it can be quite frustrating! Sometimes deleting the stuck print job doesn't actually delete it, but you will still receive a message on your computer screen saying that Windows is "deleting/" the item. In this video, we'll show you how to successfully remove a stuck document from the printer queue in a few simple steps so you can continue with your workday.
-Turn off your printer from the printer itself and make sure the power cords are properly inserted into the printer and the printer/USB port on your computer. Sometimes this will fix the problem without any further adjustments being made. If the printer is connected wirelessly, simply turn it off and unplug the power cord from the outlet for 30 to 60 seconds.
-Right-click on the Computer/My Computer box from your Windows operating system and select the /"Manage/" option from the resulting context menu.
-Grant your computer access to the tool /"Computer Management Snapin Launcher/" from the User Account Control box that appears if your computer is Windows Vista or newer.
-Double-click on the Services and applications selection in the Name column, followed by the item /"Services/".
-Scroll and click on the Print Spooler item in the list of services that your computer uses. The list of printing services will most often be huge and unruly, but if you look carefully you will find it quite quickly.
-Right-click on the /"Properties/" option and click on the /"Stop/" button. This button should be located under the label called /"Service Status/" with the status /"Started/". Wait a few seconds for this service to stop.
-Delete all documents that exist in the C://WindowsSystem32//spool//PRINTERS folder using the Windows Explorer list folder (folder tree) on your computer. This folder is the log of spooled and unprinted documents waiting to be printed. Use the Run command (WinR) to open the folder. Once cleared, close this folder and only open this folder the next time the problem occurs.
-Restart the Print Spooler service from the Print Spooler Properties area and click the /"OK/" button to confirm that you want to restart the service.
-Close the /"Computer Management/" dialog box.
-Rerun a test printable document.
