How to Dry Pears Drying Pears at Home for Food Storage
A pear is one of the best fruits to dry. Dried pears make a delicious snack and are also great to sprinkle on salads and add to compotes. Using a dehydrator makes the process easy and by following a few steps you can be sure of the tastiest results and are sure to be safely preserved for long-term storage at room temperature.
Pears are best for drying when they are ripe but not too soft. For example Bartlett pears (the best variety for drying) are at the perfect stage for drying when they are turning yellow but still firm. They reach that stage a day or two before they would be ideal for eating juicy and fresh.
Besides the ripe pears you'll need a few other supplies most of which you probably already have in your kitchen.
