In this video, I'll show you how to edit a text message using iOS 16's new iMessage editing feature.
The recent release of iOS 16 by Apple has given us many new useful features in the messaging app. In a previous video I showed you how the unsend feature works and how to use it. In this video we will see how to edit a sent text message.
Before you get started, you need to be updated to the latest version of iOS, which is now iOS 16. But unlike the unsend feature, the person you're messaging doesn't need to be iOS 16 update to see a modified message. text. It will simply appear in their message feed and display the changes you have made.
The other thing to take into account, you can only edit text messages within fifteen minutes of sending the original. So if you want to make a change, just make sure you do it within that fifteen minute time frame.
To get started, let's open the messaging app. We'll start by sending a text here to someone.
To edit the text message you just sent, press and hold the blue text bubble.
If you see the bubble in green, this will not work. This means that it was not sent as an iMessage text, but just a regular text message. And the person you're sending it to may have an Android device or your iMessage is disabled.
Once the context menu appears and you have a blue text bubble, select Edit.
You will then be able to edit the original text message you sent. Once you're done, click the blue check mark on the right. It will then update the post and will now show edited below.
If you want to see the edit history of your post, you can tap the edited label here, and it will show you the text history. And to hide the edit history, just tap Hide Edits again.
Remember, you only have fifteen minutes to edit your messages.
