To enable two-factor authentication, go to the Epic Games website and click Login in the upper right corner.
– Enter your email address, then your password, and click Connect now.
– Hover over your account name in the upper right corner and click Account.
– Click Password & Security.
– Scroll down to Two-Factor Authentication. You will see three options available: authenticator app, SMS (SMS) authentication, or email authentication. First, we will show you how to activate the authenticator app.
– Note: You can only enable one type of two-factor authentication on your account at a time. To enable it, click Enable Authenticator App.
– A pop-up window will appear describing the three simple steps you need to follow to activate the authenticator app.
– You will need to download an authenticator app on your smartphone to be able to complete this process. In this example, we will use the Google Authenticator app on Android. Note that the process will be slightly different on iOS devices.
– Open the app and tap Get Started.
– Tap Scan barcode.
– Scan the QR code on your screen.
– Tap Add account.
– Memorize the code on your phone. The code will be updated from time to time for added security.
– Enter the six-digit code in the pop-up window and click Activate.
– Backup codes are created in case you lose access to your authenticator app. Click Generate Codes.
– Make sure to write down these codes in a safe place or you can click on the download codes to save a text file containing the codes to your computer.
– To confirm that the authenticator app is working properly, log out of your Epic Games account by hovering over your name in the upper right corner and clicking Log Out.
– Click Login in the upper right corner.
– Enter your email address, then your password, and click Connect now.
– You will be asked for a six-digit code. Open your authenticator application and enter the code then click Continue.
– You have successfully enabled two-factor authentication through your authenticator app on your Epic Games account!
