How to enable/disable processor cores in Windows 7, 8, 10 (MSCONFIG method)?

The CPU or CPU cores of current multi-core processors in laptops/desktops can be disabled (disable or park the cores) to:

1. Increase the laptop battery backup,
2. Solve CPU heating issues,
3. To run the remaining CPU cores at a faster speed,
4. To run software or games running on a single core or optimized to run on a single core.

If you notice some delay in running multithreaded applications after disabling CPU cores, then you can enable (enable or re-enable cores) all cores or revert to default settings later.

How to re-enable all CPU cores – tutorial is also covered in this video.
