In this video, I'll show you how to enable the haptic feedback feature for your iPhone keyboard, now built into iOS 16. And if you're having trouble enabling it, I'll show you two tips at the end. that will make it work
Before you begin, you need to be updated to the latest version of iOS, iOS 16. To check your iOS version, simply go to the Settings app. Inside here, scroll down and tap General, then Software Update. If you haven't updated yet, you can start the process here.
Once you're on iOS 16, let's see how to enable haptic feedback on your keyboard.
Start by opening the Settings app.
Once inside here, tap Sounds & Haptics. Scroll down a bit and select Keyboard Feedback.
Here we now have the option to activate the haptic function. Tap the slider on the right to enable it. Now, if everything goes well and you don't have any more issues, when you navigate to any screen with your keyboard, you will feel the haptic vibration feedback as you type.
One thing to note though, Apple has stated that currently when you use haptic feedback, it will drain your battery faster than normal. This may be something they address in later updates, but it's just something to be aware of for now.
If you're having issues where haptic feedback isn't working even though you've enabled it, let's look at two fixes that can help.
First, go back to the keyboard feedback screen here. Leaving haptics on, turn off the sound by tapping the slider on the right. Now go back to any screen to use your keyboard and type a few things. After that, go back to keyboard return and turn the sounds back on. Test it now by switching back to a keyboard and typing. Some people said this fixed the problem for them.
If not, there is one more thing to check that could be causing the problem. Return to the main settings menu. Scroll down and choose Accessibility. Inside here, select Touch. At the bottom you will see Vibration. If this option is disabled, you need to enable it by toggling the slider to the right. If it's already enabled, just turn the option off, go back to a keyboard and type something, go back to the touch menu and turn it back on. Now test it to see if it worked. This has helped a lot of people when they had this problem.
