Starting with the iPhone 14 and 14 Pro running iOS 16, Apple included a new security feature called Crash Detection.

If you ever experience a serious accident, your device will connect you to emergency services. What happens when it detects the accident is that it sounds an alarm and also displays and plays an accident detection alert.

The alert will let you know that it appears you have been in an accident and will have an emergency slider to contact emergency services immediately, but also a cancel button below if it is an accident. false alarm. If you don't respond within 20 seconds, it will assume it's an emergency, place the call, and provide the latitude and longitude of your location.

If you have emergency contacts in your phone, like a spouse or parents, it will also contact them with your location.

It's a nice feature, but maybe you don't want to enable it. There have also been problems with false reporting from phones on roller coasters. Fortunately, it's easy to turn crash detection on or off.

To disable the feature, open the settings app.

Inside here, scroll down and then tap Emergency SOS.

Now scroll down a little and you will see Call after severe crash. To turn it off, simply tap the slider on the right to turn it off. You will then receive an alert asking you if you are sure you want to deactivate it. Tap turn off or leave on if you change your mind.

And it's the same if you want to turn it back on. Just go back to the Emergency SOS settings and turn the slider back on.

There you go, you enable or disable the crash detection feature on your iPhone.
