Most modern Windows laptops these days come with built-in webcams that include dedicated LED indicators that let you know the camera is on and watching you. However, you can also have such laptops without such LEDs.
To improve privacy, Microsoft includes a system-wide notification that lets you know when the camera is on or off. However, if your laptop's LED is no longer working or has no LED and you want an additional warning, you need to enable the hidden camera privacy flag on your Windows 11 computer.
How to enable camera privacy notifications in Windows 11?
To enable camera privacy notifications in Windows 11, first open Registry Editor.
When the Registry Editor opens, copy and paste the following path into the address bar and press Enter on the keyboard:-
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE//SOFTWARE//Microsoft//OEM//Device//Capture
In the right sidebar, double-click NoPhysicalCameraLED REG_DWORD and set its “Value Data” to 1.
Then click the OK button.
Finally, restart your PC to apply the changes.
If you want to disable the Windows 11 camera privacy notification, simply change the “Value Data” of NoPhysicalCameraLED REG_DWORD to 0.
