How to find your Windows product key

In this video, I show you several tools (including Command Prompt, PowerShell, NirSoft Prodkey, and Certificate of Authenticity Lookup) to find the product key for Windows. At least one of these methods can be used to recover the key for Windows 10, 8, 7 and server versions of Windows. Although it is hidden in the Windows activation screen and inaccessible in your computer's BIOS, you can retrieve an OEM key from the BIOS or UEFI, or obtain it from the registry.

If you want to copy and paste the commands, here is the one from the command prompt:

wmic path softwarelicensingservice get OA3xOriginalProductKey

and here is the one for PowerShell:

(get-wmiobject -query 'select * from SoftwareLicensingService').OA3xOriginalProductKey
