The atibtmon.exe runtime error usually occurs when users log in to their Windows computers. This issue is confirmed on every version of Windows. You will most often see this error occur when you unplug your laptop from the cable or boot directly into battery life.

This tool allows users to access their screen brightness options directly through the Windows system tray. It's usually safe to terminate or delete it, but doing so will likely mean you no longer have any control over your monitor brightness if you're using a laptop.

Get the old version of the display driver:
1. Right-click the Start menu, then select Device Manager to open it.
2. Click Graphics Cards to expand it. Right-click your graphics card in the list, right-click it and select Uninstall Device from the menu.
3. Check Remove the driver software for this device, and then click Uninstall.
4. Once the driver is removed, restart your computer. The default version should now be installed automatically.

Change AMD graphics power settings:
1. Right-click the battery icon in the notification area to the right of the taskbar.
2. Select Power Options from the context menu.
3. Based on your current power plan, click the Change plan settings link.
4. In the Change plan settings window, click Change advanced power settings.
5. In the Power Options window, scroll down and click AMD Graphics Power Settings to expand the section.
6. Click AMD Powerplay Settings, change all options to Maximize Performance.
7. Click Apply OK to save your changes.
8. Exit Control Panel.

The atibtmon.exe runtime error is mainly related to power issues. Several reasons including outdated or corrupt AMD graphics driver, system file corruption, Vari-Bright feature issues, power settings conflicts, hardware issues, and software issues cause this error to appear. This error can easily be fixed by updating the AMD graphics driver, disabling the Vari-bright feature, adjusting the power options, and checking for updates.
