I receive the following error message when I try to access the Local Group Policy Editor:

The snap-in may not have been installed correctly.

This error solution is common for Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 8.1, Windows 10 and Windows 10 Home as well.

Solution:

1.Go to run then type /"regedit/"

2. Locate HKEY-LOCAL-MACHINE-SOFTWARE-MICROSOFT-MMC-SNAPINS.

3.Now locate this file and then delete it.

4. Finally, once your computer restarts, the problem is resolved.
