Method 1: Command Prompt – right-click and run as administrator. Type the following command and press Enter key
dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth
Method 2: Right click on the start button – terminal administrator – copy the following commands
dead stop wuauserv
dead stop cryptSvc
sharp stop bits
net shutdown msi server
ren C://Windows//SoftwareDistribution SoftwareDistribution.ivgl
ren C://Windows//System32//catroot2 catroot2.ivgl
netboot wuauserv
netboot cryptSvc
net boot bits
msi server clean boot
right click to paste. The commands will run one by one. Type Y to confirm if prompted. Press the Enter key to execute the last command.
The first four commands stop four Windows services to rename two folders without any errors.
a- Windows Update Service
b- Cryptographic service
c- Background intelligent transfer service
d-Windows Installer Service
The following two commands rename two folders
a- Software Distribution folder from C drive – Windows
b- catroot2 folder in the Drive C folder – Windows – System32.
The last four commands start the interrupted services above.
Method 3: Update with Windows ISO file without USB or DVD. Find the Windows 10/11 iso (OS should match your current OS). Select the language. The language must also match your current system language. Download the ISO file. The download will take some time. Open the file. Run the installer file inside! It will keep your apps and files.
