4 Tips for Steaming and Frothing the Perfect Milk for Latte Art

If you’ve invested in an espresso machine with a steam wand frothing milk is a breeze with it. Technically the wand steams your milk because frothing gives a different texture to the bubbles but both produce a very pleasant foam.

Most modern machines including many automatic machines have a steam wand that hangs off the side. This attached arm forces steam into your milk gently heating it with pressure while adding air to the milk causing it to froth. You’ll need a small metal jug for frothing. These are called milk frothers and are available at many stores that sell espresso machines and accessories but they’re also easy to find online. They’re the perfect depth for the steam wand and the long handle is easy to hold and operate.

The exact methods for frothing milk vary slightly depending on the beverage but this technique covers the basics for this style of textured milk. Your milk needs to be really cold for best results.
