How to get 200 free DigitalOcean Cloud Credits
In this video I will show you how to try DigitalOcean for free as a new customer with 200 credit for 60 days. You will also learn how to create your first cloud server or virtual private server (VPS) called a droplet and configure it with a Linux operating system (OS). During your DigitalOcean trial, you are not limited to just experimenting with their droplet service, you can actually try any of DigitalOcean's cloud services using your 200 free cloud credits that they provide.

Steps to start your DigitalOcean free trial:
1. Go to https://digitalocean.pxf.io/c/1245219/1373759/15890
2. Sign up for DigitalOcean using your email, Google, or GitHub. If you decide to register using your email, click Create a free account
3. Complete the DigitalOcean security check to verify that you are not a robot.
4. Confirm your email address, by opening your email inbox, clicking on the email from DigitalOcean, and finally clicking on the confirmation link to confirm your email and create your DigitalOcean account free.
5. You will immediately be greeted with a questionnaire. You can complete this if you wish and click Submit, or you can click Dismiss
6. Next, you will need to verify your identity with a payment method. Click on one of the two options; Add a card or connect PayPal
7. If you clicked Add Card, enter all your relevant billing information and click Save Payment Method. Likewise, if you choose to connect your PayPal, you will need to log into your PayPal account when prompted and follow the on-screen instructions.
8. Congratulations, you have now successfully received your DigitalOcean free trial credit. You can confirm your remaining credit and its expiration in the upper right corner.
9. Once your credit is obtained, on the home screen, click Explore our control panel to access your DigitalOcean dashboard.
10. To create your first droplet, click the green Create button
11. Click on Droplet
12. Scroll up if you are not already there and choose your droplets region, data center, image, OS version, droplets size (like droplet type, processor and specification plans), authentication method, for example password authentication with your choice. root password, droplet quantity and hostname (droplet name)
13. Once you have finished setting up your droplet, create it, by clicking on the blue Create Droplet button
14. Let your droplet spin, letting the progress bar finish. You'll know your droplet is up and running by the status of the green circle to the left of your droplet's hostname.
15. Once your droplet is operational, hover over it and click Copy Text to copy your droplets IP address.
16. Now minimize your browser and open your SSH client to connect to your droplet via SSH protocol. If you don't have an SSH client, watch this step-by-step video on how to install one https://youtu.be/0ptZPTTwRaE
17. Paste your droplets IP address that you copied and click Open
18. Click Accept/Connect once if you are using PuTTY as your SSH client.
19. Log in as root
20. Press Enter on your keyboard
21. Enter your droplets root password and press Enter on your keyboard to successfully connect to your DigitalOcean cloud server.

Good game! You have successfully created your DigitalOcean account, received your 200 free trial credits and created your first droplet.
