In this video, I'll detail the steps anyone can take to get a job and start a career in cybersecurity. If you follow these steps and do your best at each step, it's only a matter of time before you find yourself working in cyberspace or, at the very least, working in IT and you be on the right track. Good luck!

Step 1. Listen to the industry and maintain this step at least until you get a job.
Start listening to Darknet Diaries. This will prepare your brain for what is possible and “let you in” on all the different crazy things happening in the world. You'll discover attacks you never thought possible and be exposed to all sorts of crazy situations all over the world. If you like it, try listening to all the episodes.

To supplement MDN, start listening to a daily source of cybersecurity news, such as The CyberWire by Dave Bittner and his team. It is a highly produced and curated source of information for cybersecurity events around the world. Listening to this will improve your vernacular and keep you up to date with the industry and the latest happenings. Listening to this a lot constantly will pay off a lot when it comes time for your interview. Not only will you be up to date on all kinds of recent happenings, but you'll be able to express yourself much better using industry terms than if you hadn't been listening.

Huntress laboratories or hacker news, etc.

Step 2. Acquire basic computer and security knowledge as well as basic programming skills
This step can be a little difficult because cybersecurity relies on IT, so you need to have some foundation in computer knowledge before you can really be effective at security. Although this step is difficult, it is by no means insurmountable.
I would recommend the following program to start:
CompTIA Network and CompTIA Security. You don't necessarily need to get the certifications, but I would honestly recommend getting at least the security.
I would also HIGHLY recommend learning the basics of a programming/scripting language. Nothing too rigorous. I personally recommend the Python course from CodeWithMosh.
He has a free course on YouTube here: https://youtu.be/_uQrJ0TkZlc
Use Google and learn how to create a simple program with your Python skills, like a simple port scanner or ping sweeper. Publish this to your Github.com account.
Put all these things on your resume
A diploma can satisfy this step, but it is not required
