How to Hide the Chat, Spaces, and Meet Tabs on the Gmail Android App

How to hide the Chat and Spaces tabs

STEP 1
Go to Gmail's settings by tapping the three-bar hamburger icon in the upper left corner of the app.

2ND STEP
This opens the menu and you can see that the Settings option is at the very bottom of the displayed list.
Let's choose this now

STEP 3
On this page we have the choice to access the general settings or also access our Google ID settings.
Let's tap on our Google ID and it takes us to our Google account settings.

STEP 4
Scroll down until you see the Chat section and the Show Chat & Spaces tab option. This is currently checked to indicate that Chat and Spaces links are displayed.
To disable them, simply tap the checkbox once.

STEP 5
Gmail then automatically updates your account settings to reflect this change and the Gmail inbox is reloaded.

How to hide the Meet tab

STEP 1

You will see that the option to show the Meet tab for video calls is checked to indicate that it is enabled.
To disable it, we simply tap the checkbox once.

STEP 5
As before, Gmail applies this change to your account settings and reloads the Gmail inbox.
The Meet tab has now been removed.
