About this video: How to host a Minecraft server on your computer? Well, this video is our complete guide on how to host your own Minecraft server. We cover everything about creating a Minecraft server, from where to download Minecraft server files to how to play Minecraft with friends on your server, this video shows you how to do it all.

To begin, we will need to download the Minecraft server jar file. This is the file you will use to create, start, and bring your Minecraft server online. You can find a link in the description above to download the Minecraft server files. This will take you to our complete text guide on how to host a Minecraft server that is always kept up to date with the most recent version of Minecraft.

On this page, click the “Download Minecraft” button to go to the official Minecraft server jar file download page. This page will contain the text “minecraft_server_version.jar”. Click on this text to start downloading the Minecraft.jar server.

After downloading the server.jar file, you will need to create a new folder on your desktop. You can call it whatever you want, but I suggest “Minecraft Server”. Drag and drop the server.jar you downloaded into this folder on the Minecraft server you created.

Open the Minecraft server folder and double-click server.jar. Assuming you have Java installed on your computer, otherwise you can download it from the description above, your Minecraft server will attempt to start. However, this will fail. However, some files and folders will be generated.

One of these files will be called “eula.txt”. Open this file and replace "eulafalse" with "eulatrue" assuming you agree to the Minecraft EULA.

When you double-click server.jar again, your server starts. At this point, you now know how to host a Minecraft server. However, at this point, you are the only person who can join the Minecraft server you are hosting.

To register, you will simply use the IP address “localhost” when connecting to the server. What if you want to play Minecraft with your friends on the server you host? Well, to do this you will need to forward port 25565 over TCP and UDP protocols.

There is a detailed guide on how to transfer a Minecraft server once you host it. After port forwarding, your friends will be able to join you using your public IP address.

At this point, you have hosted a Minecraft server on your own computer. However, if you want to host a Minecraft server remotely, we recommend our company SimpleGameHosting. This will allow you to create a Minecraft server around the clock for you and your friends without having to worry about port forwarding or anything like that.

However, you now know how to host a Minecraft server. If you have any questions about how to create a Minecraft server, let us know in the comments. We will do our best to help you.
