You can configure the location from which applications can be installed. Microsoft has added a new option that allows you to install apps from anywhere, from the Windows Store only, or if the system should suggest Store apps instead of Win32 apps. Let's see what has changed.

If you remember Windows RT, it can only run Store apps and specially approved Win32 apps. Microsoft says this makes Windows more secure because apps from untrusted sources cannot be installed. However, this also makes Windows much less functional because most classic apps aren't in the Windows Store and many software developers don't want to put their apps in the Store.

Regardless, Microsoft finally added a setting that decides where apps can be installed. It can be configured by any user with administrative privileges. For now, it has 3 distinct preferences.
