Can't install Windows 11 on VMware?
Below is a list of fixes that other affected users have successfully used to get to the bottom of this issue.

1. Meet the minimum requirements
If you're just starting to troubleshoot "This PC can't run Windows 11" error with VMware Workstation, the first thing you need to do is make sure your current PC configuration meets the minimum requirements:

1. Storage: at least 64 GB or more
2. CPU is not supported for Windows 11 – 1 GHz or faster with 2 or more cores on a compatible 64-bit processor or system on a chip (SoC)
3. PC must support Secure Boot and TPM 2.0
4. TPM2.0 must be enabled

2. Enable Secure Boot and TPM 2.0 on VMware Workstation Pro
Simply enable Secure Boot from Fireware section and Trusted Platform module from Trusted Platform module to resolve this issue.

You can repair the error by encrypting your virtual machine and then adding a virtual Trusted Platform Module (TPM) if you are using VMware Workstation Pro.

Important: If you are using VMware Workstation Player, proceed to the next technique, which involves hacking the registry and editing the .vmx file.

3. Edit the VMX file to add VTPM (VMware Workstation Player)
You can resolve the issue by editing the VMX file to verify that VTPM is installed on VMware Workstation.

To use the software functionality by editing the .vmx file, follow these steps:

To get started, open VMware Workstation.
Note: If you don't already have one, create a new virtual machine. Also deactivate all currently active virtual machines.

Locate the Windows 11.vmx file in the Windows 11 Virtual Machine folder.
From the next menu, select Open with – Notepad from the context menu when you right-click the .vmx file.

Opening with Notepad
Note: Other text editors, such as Notepad, can also be used.

Add the following line to the end of the file when opening it in Notepad:
autoAddVTPM /"software/"
ManagedVM.autoAddVTPM /"software/"
To save the file and close Notepad, use Ctrl S.
Restart VMware Workstation, Fusion or Player after the file has been modified.
Restart your virtual machine and install Windows 11.
If the issue is still not resolved, continue to the final potential fix below.

4. Bypass TPM Check for VMware via Registry Editor
If you meet all other conditions except the TPM check, you can easily bypass it by modifying a registry entry responsible for running a TPM check in VMware Workstation.

Another option to fix this problem is to edit the Windows registry and add new entries.

Here's how to do it:

1. Install Windows 11 on your virtual machine after setting it up.
2. “This PC cannot run Windows 11” issue crashes Windows setup due to missing system requirements while installing Windows 11 in VMware Workstation.
3. Open Command Prompt (Shift F10) when the following error message occurs.
4. To open Registry Editor, run the following command in the Command Prompt window and click Enter: regedit
5. Navigate to the following location in the Registry Editor: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE//SYSTEM//Setup.
6. Select New – Key from the configuration key context menu.
7. BypassTPMCheck must be renamed to key.
8. Select New – DWORD (32-bit) Value from the context menu of the BypassTPMCheck key.
9. LabConfig should be renamed with the new DWORD value.
10. Edit the LabConfig value by right-clicking it.
11. To save the changes, type 1 in the Value Data field and click OK.
12. Close Registry Editor when finished.
13. To exit the Command Prompt, type exit and press Enter.

With this PC cannot run error, you will be back in the Windows setup window. In the upper left corner, click the Back button.
Click Next after selecting the Windows edition you want to install.
You should now be able to complete Windows 11 setup without encountering any errors.
