The holidays are a time to pull out all the stops but if you’re not a baker desserts can be intimidating. Luckily professional baker and decorator Liz Shim has the recipe for holiday dessert success. Her Holiday Bundt Cake is simply delicious and looks like it came straight from the display case of a gourmet bakery. Here’s how to make it at home.

The first step in making a Bundt cake is to thoroughly grease your pan. The more intricate and decorative the pan the more generously you’ll want to grease it. You can use nonstick spray but Liz prefers to use a few tablespoons of butter and flour. Start by spreading softened butter all over the inside of the pan then once it’s thoroughly greased add a few tablespoons of all-purpose flour and shake the pan to distribute it. When all sides appear coated flip the pan over and tap it a few times to remove any excess flour. The flour will not only help the cake release easily after it’s baked but it will also reveal any spots that need more greasing.
