When you are using Google Maps for navigation and if the bottom of the screen is filled with big icons, then you should watch this video to learn how to use Google Maps in full screen while navigating. For example, when you use Google Maps to drive.

The name of these additional buttons that appear during navigations is called Google Assistant settings. So all you have to do is go to your settings, select Navigation, then select Google Assistant settings and turn off "Driving mode/". Then Google Maps will remove those big buttons at the bottom of the Google Maps navigation screen.
