Of all the foods people associate with Hawaii Spam musubi seems to be the most popular with echoes of lau lau lomi lomi salmon and kalua pig close behind. I've heard the terms Spam sushi and Spam sandwiches but I can't quite wrap my head around it: it's Spam musubi.

Back home in Hawaii musubis can be found in every grocery store on the islands including 7-11 (and I have to say their musubis are pretty good!). Musubis are sold in school cafeterias and next to butter mochi at local bake sales. Picnic? Someone’s mom is probably making at least two dozen. Sleepover? Either dinner that night or straight from the fridge for breakfast.
Tip: Have all of your ingredients ready before you start so the Spam is hottest and crispiest when it contacts the rice.
