In today's video, I'll show you how to manually migrate your Google Assistant reminders to the Google Tasks app.

Late last year, it was announced that Google would replace its current reminders system and let the Google Tasks app take responsibility. This transition should make it easier to access your reminders since they were buried in the Settings area of the Google Assistant app before this migration.

This process also requires migrating existing reminders, which should happen automatically very soon. The company said it will start doing this automatically for Google Workspace and free accounts this month. But I know people who want this to change as quickly as possible.

Not only does this allow you to immediately use the new reminder system that Google is working on, but it also gives you the opportunity to test it and troubleshoot any issues without being surprised when reminders stop working unexpectedly.

We can manually start this process by visiting the website assistant.google.com/reminders/move.

I will link to this website in the video description below for those who want an easy way to access the site.

This landing page was created specifically for those who want to migrate their reminders to the new Google Tasks app.

We can continue to use our voice with Google Assistant to create our reminders.
Once this migration is complete, we can find all of our to-do lists in one easy-to-access location.
And you can create a to-do list with just one click from Google Chat or its Gmail app.

To start the process, simply tap the Start Setup button here at the bottom right.
Then we can proceed with the migration.

Not everyone was happy with this transition.
I know many people don't have the ability to do location-based reminders.
And some wish they could assign a reminder to their family members like before.

But I think we'll get those features back once all the work is done with this migration.
I suspect the team in charge of these features will have more time to work on adding these types of features very soon.

Let me know if you've had any issues with this transition to the Google Tasks app.
Are you missing features or having difficulty adapting to the new reminder system?
