Method 1 – Windows 10 Home
In Registry Editor, click and expand HKEY LOCAL MACHINE/ /SOFTWARE/ Policies/ Microsoft/ Windows
Right-click and create a new key called “Windows Search”
On the right side of the window, right-click and create a New/32-bit DWORD entry. Call it “Allow Cortana” and press the Enter key. Right-click on it and select “Edit…” and make sure the Value Data is set to 0.
Close Windows and restart the computer for the changes to take effect.
Method 2 – Windows 10 Pro and Enterprise
Open Group Policy Editor (gpedit)
Go to Local Computer Policy/Computer Configuration/Administrative Templates.
Below, expand “Windows Components,” then select “Search”
On the right side, find the setting called “Allow Cortana.” open it, then select disable.
Next, find “Allow Cortana above the lock screen,” open it, then select turn off.
Close Windows and restart the computer for the changes to take effect.
