Windows 10 and 11 will allow you to access your recently opened Microsoft Office files from applications like Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc. from your Start menu icons without having to open the Office program first.

If the Show recently opened items in Jump Lists or Start or File Explorer taskbar and Quick Access setting is turned off, you won't have this feature. Fortunately, it's very easy to activate and start working again.
