This video will show you how to record your screen in Ubuntu. This is shown in version 16.04, but works in many versions. The software used is OBS (Open Broadcast Studio) available on:

https://obsproject.com/download#linux

To install it, follow the steps shown in the video for your operating system, basically pasting the commands from this website into the terminal to install OBS.

Once the recording software is installed, simply change your monitor settings, setting the resolution, then set the bitrate and file type (.mp4, .mkv, .flv).

After that, right-click in the sources window and choose /"Add screenshot/". In the window that appears, click OK, then in the next window choose your monitor and press OK again. At this point, if your audio already appears in the Mixer tab, you can start recording, otherwise, right-click the sources again, choose the audio input and choose your audio device.

At this point, just tap Start Recording when you're ready, then do what you want to record, then tap Stop Recording.

To extract the file you created, go to the File menu and choose Show Recordings. Your recording will be the most recent.
