If you delete the Excel file from its original location, it will be deleted from the Recycle Bin. It is very easy to restore deleted files from Recycle Bin.

You can also restore the folder to previous versions in File History if you have already enabled it.
1. Navigate to the folder containing the deleted Excel file.
2. Right-click the folder and select “Restore Previous Versions”.

In fact, Excel has AutoSave and AutoRecover functions, so you can take full advantage of them.
1. Open the unsaved Excel file workbook and click the “File” tab.
2. On the Info page, click on “Manage workbook”, you will find the previous versions of this file according to different modification times.

Windows File Recovery was released by Microsoft in 2020, it can help users recover deleted or lost files if they are permanently deleted from their computer. Currently, Windows File Recovery only supports Windows 10 versions 2004 and above.

Here's a tip: Windows File Recovery is a command-line application. This means that users must be familiar with command prompts if they want to use Windows File Recovery properly. But this little free tool – WinfrGUI can run Windows File Recovery with visual and clickable buttons to recover deleted Excel files. So you can use it in a graphical user interface which will give you a better experience.

WinfrGUI is fully supported by Microsoft and has fully invoked Windows File Recovery feature. The only difference between Windows File Recovery and WinfrGUI is the user-friendly interface.

1. Run WinfrGUI on your computer.
2. Select the partition to scan where you stored deleted Excel files. Set a path to save the recovered Excel files.
3. Click “Advanced Settings” to choose “Documents”. There are two types of scanning modes. Quick Scan only supports NTFS file system.
4. After setting, click “Start Recovery”. If you cannot find the file you want, you can try the deep scan again.
