We have a 2020 Macbook air 13'' m1 that was sticky from damage from the previous owner, probably soda or coffee. I don't like crunchy keycaps that stick and don't reassemble properly so we decided to remove the keycaps that were damaged, clean them, then reassemble them. It was only a few keys, but we took the opportunity to show how to remove all types of keys from the keyboard that were well worth the repair. It will work for all macbook airs m1 and macbook airs 2020 with Intel (i3, i5) and macbook pro m1 as well as macbook pros 2020 with Intel (i5, i7) with the same keyboard switch design, and it will work from the same way. with other keyboards, you may need to do more digging on how the keycaps attach to the switch. Cleaning your m1 macbook air keyboard or unique keys after a spill could save you from the discomfort of crusty keys and could also save you from having to get a new computer.
