Hello everyone, In Windows 11, the system assigns a generic name when connecting a new input or output device. Usually this isn't a problem when you have a single set of speakers or microphone, but it can sometimes be confusing if you have multiple devices.

If you use multiple audio devices (such as speakers, headphones, and microphones) connected to your computer, you can change their names to make them easier to identify when you need to switch inputs or outputs from Settings app or the Quick Settings drop-down menu in the taskbar.

This guide will teach you the steps to give a more identifiable name to audio devices in Windows 11, follow these steps:

First of all, open Settings in Windows 11 and click on System.

Next, click on the Sound tab and under the “Output” section, select the speakers (or headphones) to rename.

Next, click the Rename button. and Confirm a short, descriptive name for the audio device.

Next, click the Rename button.

Once you complete the steps, the new name will apply and it will be easier to identify when changing output from the taskbar.
