![How to set the total number of failed login attempts in Windows 10](https://ytimg.googleusercontent.com/vi/1fBFw4z8vMM/hqdefault.jpg)
First, go to the Start menu, type Local Security Policy and press Enter. The Local Security Policy desktop application will open. Double-click /"Account Policies/" then click /"Account Lockout Policies/". Here you will see the option /"Account Lock Threshold/". If you double-click on it, a new window will appear. Here you will see a box and you will need to enter the number of failed login attempts here. By default it is 0 and as such you can try as many failed login attempts as you want. Simply change this value to the desired number.
Let me choose 3 attempts and click OK. Now you will again see a pop-up window stating that the account lockout duration is 30 minutes.
This means that I will be able to try 3 failed login attempts and after that my PC will be locked for 30 minutes. Simply click OK to confirm.
