With the PlayStation 5's Game Sharing feature, you can play your friend or family member's digital games on the same console, and you can also share a PlayStation Plus subscription. It's a great way to expand your library or try games you might not have played otherwise.
In order to set up game sharing on the PS5, you need to go to Settings and sign in to a secondary PlayStation Network account. Essentially, you associate an account with your PS5 console so that any other account can access its games. Think of it like the "main console" feature of the PlayStation 4. Once you enable it, you don't need to bother with it again.
You can enable console sharing and offline play on one PS5 console at a time. If you enable the setting on a new PS5 console, the Console Sharing and Offline Play setting on your other PS5 console will be disabled. Other users of the disabled console will not be able to play your games and media.
PS5 console sharing and offline play do not affect your primary PS4 activation limit.
Pros and Cons of PS5 Game Sharing
In order to actually play the games from the secondary account, you need to download them while logged in to it. Once done, you can return to the main account and play there freely. There is one major caveat, however: you must be connected to the Internet to play games on your main account. Since we've linked the PS5 console to a secondary account, your primary account must be online to access its own games. On top of that, you'll enjoy the benefits of PlayStation Plus, including all of the service's free games, even if only one account has access to them.
