So just to update everyone new here, I've already done an Oculus casting here on this channel, however, at the time of filming I didn't realize that users had to have a smart TV supported by Android in order to project the VR headset onto the TV…
The truth is that until Meta (Facebook's parent company) really starts bringing its Quest VR systems mainstream, we won't see many Smart TV providers like Roku offering Oculus casting on their platforms- forms for a while.
About Chromecast – 00:43
At this point, only Chromecast supports Quest 2 casting, which means you can only cast to your TV if you a) have Chrome casting that can override your Smart TV's "smart" system OR if You own a smart TV that uses Android and already has Chrome cast natively built in.
This can be a little confusing, but that's only because of what I mentioned earlier about mainstream adoption.
So if you are someone who landed here by searching for things like "how to cast oculus quest 2 to roku tv" or "quest 2 casting to samsung tv", the method I cover in this video is the only way to do. be able to pull this off, I'm afraid.
You can basically think of this video as a “How to Cast Oculus Quest 2 to TV with Chromecast” tutorial haha.
I'll also bring a "How to Set Up a Chrome Cast Tutorial" at a later date to supplement this video, but to keep today's video short and sweet, I'm going to skip the setup section and go straight to how which you can quest for. broadcast on a smart TV.
How to cast from quest 2 – 01:38
To make sure this works for you, you'll first need to finish setting up Google Chromecast and plug the device into one of your HDMI ports. Then plug the power cable into the wall and turn it on.
Once done, you should be able to turn on your TV and see the Cromecast interface appear.
Then, it's time to get started with your Oculus Quest 2! Once the system boots, head to the pink camera icon in the bottom main menu and select it.
Once selected, you will be presented with all the available casting options, which should include mobile app, computer and if your Chromecast has been set up correctly, it should appear as an option.
Select this option and your Quest 2 should start streaming to your TV.
And that’s literally it!
