In this video, I'll show you how to unsend a text message using the new iMessage Unsend feature in iOS 16.
The recent release of iOS 16 by Apple has given us many new useful features in the messaging app. The one we've been waiting for is the ability to unsend text messages.
There are, however, a few things to remember before trying this. First of all, you need to be updated to the latest version of iOS. I will link above to a video showing you how to update your iOS.
Next, the person you're sending to also needs to be updated to iOS 16. This can be a bit of a problem because not everyone updates their iOS immediately. So what happens in this situation is that the text will be deleted on your end, but an alert will inform you that if they don't update, they might still see the message.
And finally, you only have a few minutes to cancel the sending. So if you want to unsend your text, make sure you do so immediately and before the person you're sending it to sees it.
With all that out of the way, let's see how to unsend a text message.
Open the messages app and start with the text you want to send.
Once you've sent the text and decided to undo it, tap and hold the text bubble. If you see the bubble in green, it won't work. This means it was not sent as an iMessage text. The person you're sending it to may have an Android device or your iMessage is disabled.
Once the context menu appears, select Cancel sending. It will then undo the text and delete it from your message history.
And if everything I mentioned before, the person you're sending it to is also on iOS 16, they haven't read the message yet, and it takes a few minutes, the message won't be there either sent and will be deleted from its text. message history.
This will probably be hit or miss for a little while, as people don't always update their iOS versions quickly. But after a while, when everyone is updated, this will be a welcome feature.
