Linux Mint 21.3 is codenamed "Virginia" and is scheduled for release by Christmas 2023. The beta is here to give us a first look at the new features and improvements the Linux Mint team is bringing to their popular Ubuntu-based distro .

While the Xfce and MATE editions of Linux Mint 21.3 will likely be very boring, the flagship edition including the Cinnamon desktop environment comes with some interesting changes for Linux Mint fans, like the latest and greatest Cinnamon desktop version 6.0 with initial support for Wayland.

Wayland support in Cinnamon comes in the form of an experimental session "Cinnamon on Wayland" which you can activate from the login screen after logging out of the default session, which still uses the Xorg server. The Wayland session features experimental fractional scaling for HiDPI displays.
