According to Washington State University there are more than 7500 varieties of apples grown worldwide. While orchards and grocery stores narrow down that selection it can still be daunting to know which type of apple to stock up on.
The best apple for snacking is a simple choice: which variety you like best in terms of flavor and texture. But the choice isn’t so simple when you want to cook them. So we turned to the people who know best to help us find the ultimate apples for baking. Below we hear from two farmers who grow 43 varieties of apples between them and a produce inspector who lives in a city some call “the apple capital of the world.”
