I'm built different. Oh shit. Built different Egg Challenge Tiktok new trend 2021

The cooking inspiration on social media especially TikTok and Instagram can be overwhelming. There are so many great ideas on the platforms. Remember the viral Baked Feta Pasta that everyone was making a few years ago? It’s now a staple in many people’s recipe collections. Social media taught us to use hash browns as toast. It showed us the deliciousness of substituting popcorn for Rice Krispies in the traditional Rice Krispies treat recipe. It gave us the brilliant midnight snack known as Chippy Boys: potato chips baked with cheese and then drizzled with balsamic glaze.

Not all social media food trends are equally exciting though. Adding yeast to mashed potatoes? Skip that one. Washing your grated cheese before using it? That’s a big no say our experts. It’s okay to be a little skeptical when it comes to these trends.

I was skeptical when I first saw the egg flight trend on TikTok. The trend takes hard-boiled eggs slices them in half horizontally and adds the kinds of toppings you’d mix into fancy deviled eggs like Avocado Deviled Eggs or Jalapeño Bacon Cheddar Deviled Eggs. It skips the part where you remove the yolk and whisk it with mayonnaise.
