I have a DELL 15-7537 i7 laptop, which I purchased in December 2014. It is now almost 10 years old. I updated the operating system from WINDOWS-8 to WINDOWS-10-Pro. And deleted all applications except antivirus and Microsoft-Office. But the laptop still takes several minutes to boot. And software also runs very slowly. I think it's because the original DELL battery died, as the battery doesn't store a charge. I have to use the laptop, permanently connected to AC power.

I think with a dead battery the AC power is working hard trying to recharge the dead battery. And at the same time, the laptop consumes battery power to run the hard drive and software applications.

So I think replacing the dead battery with a new battery will help speed up boot time and run apps faster.
