Lime sorbet is in order. Temperatures soared to over 90°F in Los Angeles this week and the Santa Ana winds are here. Winds like these—hot dry strong and unpredictable—are unusual in June. They cause morning nosebleeds and turn palm fronds into ribbons you can cut. They’re both beautiful and unsettling. To keep doors and windows from slamming (and to keep the air circulating) I propped them up with rocks and my heaviest jars. Then I went into the garage dusted off the ice cream maker for the first time this year and got to work making a simple lime sorbet.
