There’s nothing I find more annoying at a party than a sad tray of limp cold shrimp strewn across a seemingly bottomless bowl of cocktail sauce. It’s as if the grocer knew that the only way to enjoy the cold lifeless shrimp was to drown them in sauce. Don’t fall victim to this shrimp tragedy. Instead use Ina Garten’s shrimp-roasting trick for your next party.
Unless you live by the ocean the shrimp you buy at the grocery store is probably frozen (or recently thawed). Most shrimp are flash-frozen on the boat to lock in freshness and flavor. This ensures that when you thaw them for use in your recipe they taste just as good as the day they were caught.
