Starting next June, all new smartphones and tablets sold in India will have to have a standard USB-C charging port. This means you can use a single charger for multiple devices, making things simpler and reducing e-waste. The rule will apply to laptops starting in 2026, but will not affect basic phones and wearable devices for now, as Mint reports.
The Union IT ministry will soon ask all device manufacturers to use the same type of charging port. The report, citing sources, claims that USB-C ports will be mandatory for smartphones and tablets starting June 2024. Basic phones, headphones and smartwatches are not yet included.

The idea is akin to a 2022 European Union rule, aimed at saving money and reducing waste. India is giving manufacturers an extra six months to comply with EU regulations, giving them more time to make the transition.

The Ministry of Consumer Affairs has suggested using Type-C ports for all devices, and penalties will be imposed for non-compliance with the rules. While base phones aren't forced to change, manufacturers can opt to use USB-C ports for them. #viral #shorts #youtube #youtubeshorts #shortsvideo #shortsviral
