The result is tender buttery chickpeas perfect for salads sandwiches dips and more! We love this technique because it’s faster more consistent and less manual than stovetop methods. Plus homemade chickpeas taste SO much better than store-bought and are way less expensive! We’ll show you how.
First soak the chickpeas in water overnight (or at least 6-8 hours). This helps them soften and cook more completely. We also like to add a teaspoon of baking soda to soften them even more.
We tested the unsoaked versions and found that the soaked versions were much better. Unfortunately the unsoaked chickpeas refused to soften in the middle.
