Pour water into the inside of a multi-purpose pressure cooker (such as an Instant Pot). Place the base inside.

Cut around the pumpkin stem to create a hole large enough to fit your hand inside the pumpkin. Remove the stem then remove the seeds and stringy bits from the pumpkin. Place the pumpkin cut-side down on the base. If the pumpkin is too large to fit in the pot cut it in half and arrange the two halves so they fit.

Close and lock the lid; turn the valve to lock. Select manual mode according to the manufacturer's instructions and set the timer for 12 minutes. Wait 10 to 15 minutes for the pressure to build up.
